Total Child Preschool & Childcare Center organizes and hosts special events throughout the year.
Total Child Preschool & Childcare Center organizes and hosts special events throughout the year. Many are designed to give families an opportunity to meet and socialize with each other.
These events and activities are successful because of the family volunteers who contribute their time, skills, and resources. Whether their work involves spreading wood chips on the playground during a work day or putting up decorations for a dinner, our volunteers make a significant difference. (Every Total Child parent is expected to volunteer for at least two projects or events each year).
Community Events
Parent Night in early September
An annual gathering of both new and returning parents and Total Child staff. The evening includes an overview of the upcoming program year, a description of student life in the classrooms, a meeting with teachers, and social time for parents.
Harvest Soup Dinner in October
The children and Total Child staff prepare a delicious homemade vegetable soup for this special dinner. Parents and families have the opportunity to spend time with the Total Child community.
Family Day each winter
Family Day provides an opportunity for Total Child families to celebrate our diversity. Parents volunteer to share their cultural heritage through craft activities, songs, stories, and dance. The morning ends with an international potluck feast.
Kindergarten Night each spring
Kindergarten Night is an informal evening presenting information about all the kindergarten options that are available in Evanston elementary schools. Current and former Total Child “parent panelists” are there to share their experiences and answer questions.
Young Evanston Artists (YEA) Exhibition in May
Total Child exhibits the artwork of its students at a booth during this Evanston community event.
All School Picnic in June
All Total Child children, families, and staff gather together for our annual picnic to celebrate the end of another successful academic year.
Annual Fundraiser
When is it?
Where is it?
We rely on our annual fundraiser to help provide tuition scholarships for families in need of tuition assistance.
This year, Total Child plans to provide more than $25,000 in financial aid from public and private sources, or about 5 percent of the school’s budget.
