We rely on our annual fundraiser to help provide tuition scholarships for families in need of tuition assistance. This year, Total Child plans to provide more than $30,000 in financial aid from public and private sources, or about 5 percent of the school's budget. Tuition assistance helps families with lower incomes, families in which one or both parents are unemployed, and families who do not qualify for government assistance but still struggle to cover the cost of childcare. When unexpected economic hardship strikes families who have children in our programs, tuition scholarships help ensure that these families can remain part of this community.
In the 2014-2015 school year, Total Child has set a goal of raising $10,000 to support our financial assistance program. It's an ambitious goal, but we believe our community will give generously. Rather than fundraising through smaller, more time-consuming efforts such as gift-wrap sales, the Total Child board has opted to lead one fundraising effort that simply involves encouraging parents, alumni, and the broader community to give as generously as they can.
